Blurring experience universality

What books do we read? How do we create literary canons? Whose experience we find worth knowing? How do we understand the characters? Can we be aware and, therefore, critical of the “neutral universality” of the novels we read? We are going to talk about how to avoid the experience universality trap and see our brothers and sisters in the characters. Our limits are set by our sensitivity – not the level of melanin or societal norms. We are going to see what books appeal to our souls, and where the light refracts.
