Graduating from the Institute of English Studies at the University of Warsaw, Małgorzata Semil has been working for the Dialog monthly since 1966. From 1995 to 2005, she was the literary director in the Powszechny Theatre. She has translated over 100 plays from English, American, Australian, Irish, Canadian, New Zealandese, and African writers: Edward Albee (Three Tall Women), Neil Labute (The Shape of Things), Doris Lessing (Each His Own Wilderness), Brian Friel (Dancing at Lughnasa), Christopher Hampton (Tales from Hollywood), Martin McDonagh (The Cripple of Inishmaan), Willy Russell (Shirley Valentine), Judith Thompson (Lion in the Streets), and Caryl Churchill (Far Away, Escaped Alone, Copies). She is a member of the advisory board in the American quarterly Theatre Forum and the head of the playwrights’ section of ZAiKS.
