A lawyer and an economist, a journalist, he was a Solidarity activist and journalist in Poznań. Detained on 13 December 1981, from 1984 to 1993 he lived in Sweden. Having returned to Poland, he started working as a publisher. From 2004 to 2006, he was the editor-in-chief in Rzeczpospolita, and from 2008 to 2016 the director of the Polish Book Institute in Cracow. This year, the Universitas publishing house released his Lwów – kres iluzji. Opowieść o pogromie listopadowym 1918.
